'Giving for All the Little Reasons…'
December 10, 2008
The Corsicana Education Foundation will be hosting its annual drive beginning January 26th through March 31, 2009.
The drive will begin with a Kickoff Annual Drive Spaghetti Dinner on January 26th at 7pm in the Corsicana High School Commons (cafeteria), to honor all of our major contributing sponsors. The dinner is open to the public with advance ticket sales. Please call 903-654-2838 for your reservations today, or to-go orders for the evening.
Also during the Annual Drive months, 10 various restaurants around Corsicana will be hosting a sponsorship day in which a portion of their proceeds from that day will go to benefit and fund the Corsicana Education Foundation. Restaurant dates and listings to follow.
To round out the drive, the Board of Directors will be issuing a mass mailing of donor cards in hopes that the community will continue their positive support for the goals and objectives established by the Corsicana Education Foundation.
The Foundation was started in the spring of 2002 to provide funds beyond the normal operating budget to expand and improve educational programs and activities for students and staff. The Foundation Board of Directors and the professional staff of the Corsicana I.S.D. identified the following funding priorities for the Foundation:
- Innovative teaching grants
- Recognize and reward staff excellence
- Recognize student achievement and facilitate skill development
- Permanent Endowment Fund
During the Corsicana Education Foundation’s first six years, it has…
- Awarded 142 innovative teaching grants worth more than $292,000 to C.I.S.D. teachers. More than 300 teachers and 12,000 students will be affected by teaching grants.
- Honored 75 distinguished teachers for their contributions in the classroom in front of their peers with a plaque and a check for $1,000. The teachers were honored for their outstanding teaching ability and dedication to their students and profession. The Foundation has awarded more than $75,000 at the last five End-of-Year breakfasts to our outstanding faculty and staff.
- Honored the top 10 percent of the graduating seniors for the last 6 years and a district employee who they felt had a significant impact on their academic career. Each student and the employee were presented gifts from the Foundation totaling more than $70,000 over five years.
- Recognized 35 teachers with five years of experience or less in cooperation with the trusts of Bank of America each of the last five school years. The Rising Stars of Education Award is given each spring to educators who exhibit extraordinary dedication to their students and to learning more about the teaching profession.
Corsicana
Education Foundation gives out more than $18,000.00 in grants
May 22, 2008-
The Corsicana Education Foundation held its tenth
CEF Grant Patrol event today, May 22, 2008. Distributing more than $18,000.00 to
fund innovative
teaching grants within the district.
The foundation, which has provided for more than $288,000 to-date since
December of 2003, has a bi-annual CEF Grant Patrol , which is where foundation
board members travel to the various Corsicana ISD campuses to offer the
grant recipients their allotted grant funding.
This semester’s grants came from all over the district: 3 from Fannin
Elementary; 2 from combined interests within the district; and individual grants
from CHS, Collins Middle School, Sam Houston, and Carroll Elementary.“The grant committee was thrilled to offer this funding to such innovative
recipients, our CISD teachers,” said Samantha Stroube, Executive Director
of the Education Foundation. “I am pleased to announce that 39 teachers,
one principal, and hundreds of students will see the rewards and benefits of
these grants, not to mention the community as a whole.”
The money used to fund these grants is raised throughout the year with the
support of the community and its generous charitable donations.
If you would like to continue this great cause through monetary contribution
within the district, please contact us at 903-654-2838 or Samantha@corsicanaeducationfoundation.com. |
